The View Only module restricts access to documents stored in Alfresco so that only the (flash) preview can be accessed, while at the same time a download of the original document is not possible. It effectively prevents that original documents are downloaded and processed in an undesired way.

Q&A
What is the difference to the "Share" action in Alfresco?
The Share function enables the sharing of documents for users without access to Alfresco (usually no staff of your own company). View Only is designed for applications inside the company, where content will be made available to employees, but not the original documents.
The document can be downloaded via a download url?
No, this is not possible. The access check is always on the server.
